A dog that barely survived being hit by a car in January will be up for adoption next month, Bergen County officials said Thursday.

A state patrol officer found the white pit bull nicked named “Ford” on Jan. 22 on a highway. The dog was thin, partially frozen and had suffered a broken hip and pelvis.

Since then, workers at the Bergen County Animal Shelter have nursed the dog to the point where he will be eligible for adoption during the NBC4 and New York Giants Health & Fitness Expo at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford.

“He will need a patient family that is cognizant of his current special needs and limitations until a full recuperation,” according to a county press release.
